When Heidi Bakery, a wonderful local business in the heart of Windsor, approached us about supporting their media outreach during the build-up to the Royal Wedding, we were very excited. Cakes + the royals = a perfect combination.
To ensure we could take advantage of the most anticipated event of the year, we worked with the Heidi team to create a gorgeous mini-wedding cake selection for locals and press to enjoy, along with a show-stopping ‘Megharryccino’ coffee offer, which saw the happy couples’ faces printed on a coffee.
What we did
The results? We went viral. Broadcast crews from every corner of the globe flocked to Heidi Bakery to interview their team and take footage of the royal wedding offerings. From CNN to Australia Channel 9, the bakery was beamed to homes across the world. In the UK, feature pieces on Sky News, ITV and BBC Breakfast plus coverage from Reuters and Press Association meant that Heidi Bakery was at the centre of the pre-wedding hype. We even had a journalist from HuffPost UK come down to try her hand at baking a royal-worthy wedding cake.
On the day, an interview with Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2 kicked us off, followed by more coverage on Sky News, the BBC and much more. Social media was awash with #megharryccino and we almost lost count of the number of articles that mentioned the bakery and their creative wares.
“ As a Windsor business wanting to make the most of the Royal Wedding, we found Crest via a recommendation and they really delivered. They understood the kind of interest we wanted to generate and helped us create the content to follow suit. But what was really great was how they totally immersed themselves into our team, working with us at an incredible pace to generate more and more momentum. The results speak for themselves; global coverage with just about the biggest names in the world, as well as a whole load of fun along the way. Thanks Rhiannon and team! ”
